Brain Food
Have you ever eaten so much at D-Hall that you regret going up for seconds? It turns out that your brain may be to blame! While eating, your digestive system releases a hormone called leptin to communicate fullness. It takes some time for these signals to reach your brain, specifically the hypothalamus that contains your "hunger center," making it easy to overindulge. According to a Harvard study, it takes a total of 20 minutes for your brain to register that your stomach is full. So if you eat too fast, you have a high chance of eating too much. Next time you head to a dining hall, give your body enough time to release the necessary hormones and avoid over-eating.
