Adopt an Elephant

From showing a wide range of emotions to protecting their young during stormy nights, elephants are known as a unique and invaluable breed. But did you know that these majestic creatures are becoming endangered? According to the World Wildlife Fund, the elephant population is deteriorating due to poaching. Although illegal, poaching massacres have become a popular source of ivory, a substance in elephant tusks used to make things such as piano keys and artwork. Within the past decade, ivory-seeking poachers caused the African elephant population to decrease by 64%. If continued, our largest mammal companions will be extinct within 30 years. We should do our best to keep them alive--help prevent poaching and "adopt an elephant" at worldwildlife.org.
